Our Achievements

Our acheivements have been as here underlisted;

  • Through community outreaches, UCBC members have mobilized and sensitized over 50 families and encouraged them to go for voluntary counselling and testing (VCT), adherence on antiviral therapy (ARVs), PMTCT knowledge among women and how to cope up with stigma and discrimination and other related illnesses in adolescent health.

    Nutrition is another important factor that has been researched and concluded about as a leading course of dangers encountered after inappropiate drugs use, to the body and desribe their role in integrating nutrition support activities in their daily routines at the community level.

  • Achievement of a skills backery project. This is an income generating activity that generates most of our income to our projects for sustainability. More than 100 beneficiaries have been trained in this immediate job creation skill.

  • Acheivement of skills in tailoring. This is a skill that has helped many youths in the community with virtually no skills, both boys and girls, and at most Eva, the deaf and damp girl managed to excel in this to the extent of training the other normal youths. More than 40 youths have benefited from this immediate income generation skill.

  • Increased household income for positive mothers and youths. Household income has been boosted through mothers and youths engaging in income generating activities and make crafts such as baskets, and other crafts which are sold either to their homes or at different exhibitions when invited.

  • Basic quality education has been given to indigent children in this community. The children have been equiped with knowledge and skills needed to adopt healthy life styles and take an active role in social, economic and political decision making as they transition into adulthood.

  • Lessons are being taught to children about environmental conservation.

  • Blood donation campaign has been organised by UCBC members and more than seventy units of blood have been collected to save lives of these children when they are sick

  • Children's Pantry and Youth day get-togethers for the children and youth have been organised involving various activities like feeding the children, showing them love as a family of UCBC, General cleaning of the community and marking zebra crossing

  • Success Africa children's teams. This involves the children's choir, drama and dance, and also the games depertment that is so far composed of the athletics, football and netball teams.

  • Construction of community well. This was done through the mobilization of the community who contributed building materials and labour to provide a better well for the community and this was earmarked as a development issue

  • Children's home. Small homes for the indigent children were established to temporarily house these children and others in foster homes, though we need with a better parmanent orphanage home.

  • A garden has been hired to help grow crops for the nutrition purpose of the children their familiesChildren's home and the surplus for the sustainability of the project.

  • Research is being embacked on in issues partaining children, youths and their livelihoods.

  • Acheivement of partnerships with other organisations.

  • Adventure with a helping hand is a new organ that will help UCBC attain its projects and volunteership to improve on our services to the community.

  • UCBC as a functional and operational and structures in place (HR manual, Financial management manual, Logistics and procurement manual, Child policy manual and data management manual.

  • Other immediate job creation skills like shoe shining and repair, brick laying, etc.

  • Construction of some family homes under our guidance, through labour and material contributed by the community.

 

Get involved

future!!

Our fundraising drive for the establishment of the Indigent Children's Home and Children's Pantry was a success. We raised funds for the home and fed and showed love to the children. Honourable Nabilah Ssempala Nagayi woman Member of Parliament Kampala and Honourable James Kubekteria Chair Person Social Service comittee parliament graced the function
